Also, if I am understanding the question correctly, no return is realized until a home is sold, and at that point, the “new” home will be previously owned as well. If, however, you were considering the purchase of a home and trying to decide between two homes in the same neighborhood that are the same square footage and finished equally, then the “new” home would definitely be the better buy.
