How To Support The Charleston Community

How To Support The Charleston Community

Though Charleston is known around the world as the “#1 City in the U.S.,” locals know that our city is so much more than rich history and good food. From neighborhood to neighborhood, there is a true sense of community that is unrivaled in the way that people care for one another. Now more than ever, we are presented with opportunities to support our community in these unprecedented times. Below you will find a small sampling of the many ways you can help.

Shop Local, Online. Though retail stores, art galleries, and jewelers are currently unable to welcome visitors into their storefronts, many are still selling products online with various shipping and pick-up options. As you’re shopping for warm-weather clothes, Mother’s Day, or a piece of artwork to spruce up your home, consider shopping online from Charleston’s wonderful small businesses.

Support Restaurants. Charleston is known for its incredible culinary scene, and though restaurants are not open for dine-in service, many are offering take-out options of their most-loved menu items and even drinks. This comprehensive list of Charleston restaurants offering take-out has you covered, whether you’re craving pizza, oysters, or Southern barbecue.

Give to Local Relief Resources. There are many nonprofit organizations in Charleston committed to providing relief for Lowcountry families and healthcare workers during these difficult times. From the Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina to individual businesses, there are dozens of organizations you can partner with to make a difference without leaving your home. Be a Good Neighbor. Even with social distancing guidelines in place, there are many ways we can be of help to others. If you have a sewing machine, you can make fabric masks for family members, friends and neighbors to wear as recommended by the CDC. If you have a vehicle, you can offer to pick up groceries for an elderly or vulnerable neighbor.

Now more than ever, it’s important for us as a community to show compassion and empathy towards one another – we’re all in this together. William Means Real Estate is steadfast in our commitment to serve our clients and the Charleston community. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone impacted by COVID-19 and to all of those working hard to keep us safe.
