The nearly water-locked former degaussing station-turned-luxury residence and adjacent guest house at 2 Concord St. boast about 80 solar panels between them covering more than 700 square feet.
That by itself would be “green” worthy. Yet the array of sun-ray collectors is merely a sample of the environmentally friendly features at the estate-like downtown property. Copper roofs are coated with zinc for a long-lasting, light-colored look; water that’s heated and cooled within underground pipes helps control the indoor air temperature; and reclaimed wood, stone, and bricks are milled or mixed to craft floors, counter tops, and interior walls.
